Paweł Żukowski displayed End Credits on the elevation of Zachęta in the evening of 30 December 2021. They consisted of the names of artists who had exhibited works at the gallery in the past 30 years. It was an expression of the decision of Minister of Culture Piotr Gliński not to renew the contract with long-time director of Zachęta, Hanna Wróblewska. The director, who enjoyed great support of the artistic community, was to be replaced by Janusz Janowski, painter and chairman of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers, who was known for his conservative views. In the announcement of the event, the artist wrote: On the eve of the last day of the year, let’s meet at Plac Małachowskiego and watch the projection on the elevation of the gallery together. Let’s see how many notable figures have participated in exhibitions organised by Zachęta, within these walls and beyond them. Let’s read ‘how many personalities fit within such a small box’ over the past 30 years — only a small portion of the history of the institution, contemporary art, and the forming of our tastes’.
