On Sunday, 8 September 2024 at 12:15 pm, Prinz Gholam will give a guided tour of their exhibition. During the meeting they will discuss their works, their meaning and their creative process.
Wolfgang Prinz (b. 1969) and Michel Gholam (b. 1963) have been working together since 2001. Their multidisciplinary practice includes live performance, films, photographs, large-scale drawings and objects. Initially, they pursued separate projects - Prinz painted paintings on the walls of his studio, while Gholam worked on photography and drawing. Over time, together they developed a multidisciplinary practice based on performative actions and symbiotic collaboration. In their choreographic arrangements, they use and reinterpret motifs drawn from various sources, drawing attention to the political and social dimensions of the body as perceived through its historical representations.

Prinz Gholam is the collaborative name of two artists, Wolfgang Prinz and Michel Gholam, who have been working together since 2001. Hailing from different cultural backgrounds — German (Prinz) and Lebanese (Gholam) — their art transcends national contexts. They draw inspiration from diverse cultures and eras, incorporating these elements freely into their work. Their creative practice encompasses performance pieces and choreographies staged in the presence of viewers or for the photographic or film camera, as well as large-scale drawings, stone sculptural objects, and distinctive masks, the latter influenced by the 2020 pandemic.
