Taking Christelle Oyiri’s exhibition Ghost Rider as a point of departure, Stefa Gosiewsk will stage a collective inquiry into absence, disappearance and the politics of visibility. In an attempt to answer the question: who is not here? she will invite ideas from thinkers such as Fred Moten, Pope.L, McKenzie Wark and softchaos to elaborate on the affective politics of club culture and call forth electronic music’s erased black lineage. Part-lecture, part-play, part workshop - this (un)guided tour will traverse the tension between the club as a tool of disappearance and the art institution as a technology of making-visible, in the hope of proposing a personal, yet situated and engaged reading of Oyiri’s work.
Stefa Gosiewsk is an artist, curator and DJ based in Warsaw. Having graduated from the Department of Arts & Sciences at UCL and Warsaw’s Academy of Fine Arts, she pursues a hybrid artist-curator approach in her practice, which aims to challenge unified subjectivity. As a member of collectives such as Kem, DEKONSTRUKT or Reforma, she actively contributes to both artistic and nightlife environments.
