The main character of the painting is a large German shepherd majestically strolling along a beach. At the edge of the water stands a figure staring into the depths of the sea, in a beach costume, a towel draped over its shoulders. The banal summer seascape has a rather careless composition, the source of which may be a hastily taken photograph immortalising the lonely ‘stranger’. The convention adopted by Szamborski, encompassing not only the method of photographic framing, but also colour, handling of colour and field, situates the painting in the trend of hyperrealism.
